Title: My evolution from a nurse-to-nurse educator.

No photo description available.

My journey began long before I crossed the stage, received a degree or passed the NCLEX. It started with my maternal grandmother who was a practicing nurse. The compassion with which she cared for her patients captivated my very soul. She inspired me so much that I started offering band aids on the playground. Deep inside I knew I was called to care for others even at such a young age.
My commitment to serve my community continued to evolve from volunteering at soup kitchens and to volunteering on an oncology unit. Then the moment finally came when I got hired on a med surg unit. I lived to see my patients recover and be empowered to live healthier lives. As I gained experience in multiple specialties such as rehab, stroke and surgical ICU, one thing stayed the same. That was my love, patience and commitment to support new nurses.
I invested time in precepting and sharing what little I knew with a every new nurse that crossed my path. The thrill of seeing them grow in their skills and knowledge gladdened my heart.
The skills and knowledge that I have gained have now equipped me with the tools to effectively fulfil my passion for teaching the next generation of nurses. I look forward to becoming a clinical nurse educator and a lecturer at my local university.
